My 13 year old dd is howling like a wounded animal, stating she wants to move school and will not go to her current school ever again. Why? She was having an argument with someone on FB and sent a nasty message...to the wrong person.

She is now convinced that no one will speak to her on Monday and she'll be picked on.

Half of me thinks it's a good lesson to learn about concentration, the rest wants to lecture her about sending such messages in the first place!

In some ways she's really mature, but in others she really needs to grow up - she cries at the drop of a hat over anything; I really cannot be doing with this tonight Angry Have sent dh up to have a word.

so all she needs to do is send another message and apologise.....

Apparently she has, but this other person didn't believe her. She's obviously blowing it all out of proportion, and will not believe me that by Monday it'll all be forgotten about.

Time for a big apology to the innocent victim - a phone call might be better than a facebook message.

Also, time to make up with the person she was rowing with. They dont need to end up as best buddies but a tolerant silence will be enough.

This is quite interesting on why we behave as we do in cyberspace. Plus I love the words solipsistic disinhibition!

I keep saying it....Face Book is a terrible thing. People say things on it that they wouldn't say face to face. Children of this age love a drama IMO and take any excuse to blow things out of proportion...which is what the recipient of the message is doing. Maybe best to let DD sort it out herself...and learn a lesson.
Dont know what makes me think I'm qualified to give advice......cant sort out own probs with my DD Sad

Facebook is the single worst invention in the world, its got a lot to answer for!
No doubt this will be talked about on monday but i agree with sharon2609 let her sort it and learn a lesson.
it wot be as bad as she thinks it will be, but i remember school dramas and at the time it actually feels like the end of the world, haha! but she'll get to school monday it will be talked about things will be said ect, but by the end of the day another drama will be going out to divert the attention away for her
