What age does 'teenage' start?!

My DD (10.5) is angry all the time, embarrassed by the rest of us and starting to be spotty and greasy haired too! Seems unfair that teens should kick in so soon, as she's only Year 6. Is this the start of the terrible teens? If she starts young will she come out of it sooner?! (I wish...)

My DD started around about 11, so I'd say it does sound like she's started puberty.

Don't worry, it will pass in 8-9 years!

Until then, come and suffer with the rest of us!

It sounds like your Dd is becoming a teen, my Dd2 was impossible at 9 and 10 we were really worried that by 15 she would be uncontrollable. With some structure and quite strict house rules she is now a relatively easy 15 year old. So maybe now would be a good time to make sure your house rules are ready for a teenager.

Also pick your battles, I know it is said on here quite alot but it makes life a lot easier..

With ds it started at 9. Dd had so many other problems in her life that I never knew what was puberty and what was a quite reasonable messed-up-ness, but she is quite civilised at 14, so there is hope.

Our dd is 9.6 and it is definitely kicking in. She is getting greasy skin and slightly furry in the armpits dept.
This morning she told me she hates me but when she told me she loved me as I dropped her off at school.

It depends on the child. Teenage didn't start properly ith DD3 until she was about 14 but she is only just coming out of the stopines now at 20.
