and am I relieved to have found you all.

I am incharge of two girls in year 7 and 8.

Like being a parent but am finding things quite hard atm. My big girl is having problems with a lack of friends and my little one is becoming more 'teenager like' by the day.

We have had a picture smashed up and a bookcase over turned this week so I am needing to talk to you wise people as I am at my wits end.

I have seen some really interesting threads here and am looking forward to meeting you all. :0

Poor you juicy, you will certainly find lots of advice here, though I think we need more background to your story. Are you their parent or a guardian? Are there any other adults in the house? Are the girls sisters?

Are they flipping out over your rules or are they not getting on together?

One of the most useful cliches for coping with teenagers is definitely "choose your battles"!!!!

Hello. I too am nowhere near ready for teenagers. I have DD1 who is 14 and DD2 who is slighly aspergersish 12. hormones all over the place.
rules:

don't threaten anything theat you won't carry though.

Don't threaten anything that will make your life harder.

Trust them to make their own decisions and to learn from their mistakes.

Hello.

I have a DD who is now 14 and a complete nightmare on the attitude front, her bedroom has been smashed up countless of times and we refuse to put it right until she grows out of throwing things at the doors and walls. School is getting better but she refuses to attend detentions set. I have now taken delivery of Divas and Doorslammers book so hopefully will be able to pick up some good tips.

We have made some rules in our house and whilst most of them now work, the key is to stick to the consequences. I agree pick your battles and trying not to answer back to them which is really really hard !!

I am going to try a new direction with pocket money a tip picked up in the book, wish me luck and I will post the thread on how we get on.
