first electric razor for DS?

It will soon be time for DS to start shaving - any recommendations for a good electric razor, and any other dos and don'ts? DH isn't much help, as he has had a beard for the last 20 years and uses a wet razor when he does have the odd scrape around. Many thanks in advance!

I started Ds with a cheap rechargeable shaver.
At first it's just a bit of fluff that needs shaving every couple of weeks. Obviously they want to tell their friends that they "have to" shave.
After about a year when the fluff became a bit more bristle like I bought him a middle of the range electric shaver. Loads to choose from in Boots. I would wait until he is older to go for a more sophisticated shaver.

My DS1 , 17,uses a really cheap basic electric, and we have just started having to defuzz DS2 (13 but hairy AND autistic so not independent!) They don't need anything amazing for a few years.

Not that DS1 shaves often..or enough. He likes the bristles as otherwise he looks about 12....!

Any sons of mine and their peers would consider an electric razor as very uncool. Wet shaving with razor plades is what they like, with the contained razors with comfort strips etc and the dangerous sort that come in wrapped in paper in a tiny box. It's easier to manage 'styled' bits like goatees.

We are talking here about a boys first shave.
I wouldn't trust a 13 year old with a bit of fluff with a wet razor.
Plenty of time to be "cool" when they are old enough to grow a goatee.

My Ds uses a battery wet razor I think it,s called fusion

Is 13 the age when most boys begin to shave? Neither of mine started until they were fifteen plus. They wet shave. Safety razors are fine.

I'm sure boys vary as much as girls in developement.
DS1 started puberty at 11 voice broke at 12 and by 13 he was 6' tall and starting to grow fluff. He probably didn't need to shave but people do tease about fluff.
DS2 is 12 and so far not a sign of puberty.

Safety razors are fine. My 4 DS all started with wet shaving. The 17 & 15 year olds still do. 13 year old has no need to yet! He is more worried that his voice hasn't broken.
