Ok calm down noddy!BUT aibu?last month I booked a comedian in london and a hotel for the might and before I did I said to ds(16) I am not booking this if at the last minute you say you have a party etc as it is so expensive I can't afford to waste the £.At the time he said no way he couldn't wait etc.Dp is 50 in a few weeks and this is for his birthday as he doesn't want a big party(teetotal)and he is going to the drum show at earls court and I was supposed to be going shopping with ds to get a coat and shoes etc for college.Today he announces he is going to a huge party!!!!!!!I am so angry BUT think the best thing is for us to just go without him because if I force him to stay in and come he will be so miserable all day it will be torture!

Go without him but make him pay you the money for the ticket.

Take one of his friends with you!

How bloody infuriating. At the very least you should ask him for the money for his ticket etc.and then see what he has to say.

And definitely no coat and shoes either, he can do that himself too.

My younger brother lives near the theatre so thats ok.I am about to ring the hotel to ask for a smaller room. he has just informed us that the party of the year is actually tonight!!!!!!!!!Not tomorrow???But dp said he expects him to be up at the crack of dawn and he should either stay in (he can never get up)or leave party early but he plans to stay up all night and thinks we will wait for him in the morning!!!!!!!I have said no way it is not the attitude he is treating the whole trip as something inconvenient and to be taken for granted!He will never believe we will go without him but he has been unbearable recently and I think he deserves this.

Hope you stuck to your word and taught him a little lesson. Or he has actually surfaced in time and is actaully enjoying it all with you and not being a drag.

Ok we are back and he didn't come! He is beyond shocked that we just took off and left him to it.Our normal thing would have been to force him to come and have a miserable time.As it was it was fantastic and worth every penny.I have been ill again recently and prob need an op and it was just what we needed.We got home and he is very quiet and sheepish but at least he knows who's in charge here again as I was beginning to wonder.thanks for listening it was really upsetting but we decided being there without him gave us so much more freedom to do what we like rather than putting up with teenage moods when its not all about him.I thoroughly reccomend this approach NOTHING else we have ever said/done to address his selfishness has worked but this has
