UK Accidental Insurance Claim query

What are the best questions to ask about accidental damage cover for a laptop in the UK? I accidentally dropped my MacBook from the table, and it’s no longer working. I’ve heard that insurance companies often reject accidental damage claims, so I’m not sure how accurate that is. What should I ask the home content insurer to understand whether my claim is covered and what evidence they need? Happy to hear your experience?

“My laptop fell off the table. Is the damage covered under my policy?”

That should get you the answer you want (or don’t want).

Check your contents insurance for the extent of coverage. When I dropped my c£2.1K macbook and the screen was damaged, my cover was new for old.

I had to send it away for the damage to be assessed. It was unrepairable, so my insurance offered me a new macbook from Curry's which they got at the discounted price of £1.99K, or that amount in cash.

Does your policy have accidental damage cover?
If covered they will either repair or replace, very few settle with cash these days
