Apple Noise Cancelling AirPods Help - do they work without a phone?!!

Please could someone tell me if this is possible with either the AirPods Pro 3 or the AirPods 4 ANC..... I want to be able to not have my phone on/with me and want to be able to put them in on flights and to drown out noise in noisy hotels! I need them to switch on/activate ANC/switch off - all without my phone. Obviously I can set them up in the first place with my phone. Is this possible???

I have them and sometimes wear them on noise cancelling’ mode but without listening to anything. They are great. I nearly always have my phone with me though.

Yes, you can use them without a phone, you can also set them up so you can activate / deactivate the noise cancelling by gently squeezing one of the stems.

Yes they'll still noise cancel without an active Bluetooth connection.
I still have the first gen pros and they're great. If I really want to drown out everything I play white noise with noise cancelling on.
