Fitbit-style watch with fall detection?

I'm looking for recommendations for a smartwatch with fall detection - I know that an apple watch has this feature, which is what gave me the idea, but I'm hoping for something a bit cheaper. And ideally it would work with quite an old Android phone. Can anyone recommend something?

You can get a falls pendant that detects falls without the need to press a button and calls for help via the emergency careline. Advantage is 24/7 someone to respond to the call for help, can call for an ambulance as well as call the emergency contacts. Disadvantage it only works within the home (more or less).

Thanks for the suggestion, I really wanted a watch though - I think he'd also like heart-rate, step count etc. And he needs to leave the house!!!

My Garmin has this, but it was as expensive as an apple watcg. They do cheaper ones though, so may be worth seeing if any of those models come with the feature

Have a look on BackMarket for a refurbished Apple Watch, or a Garmin?

There is definitely a gap in the market for something that marries a smartwatch and a care alarm pendant. Or for the care alarm people to produce some pendants that are less grim and ageing.
