Was wondering if it is possible to have messenger without Facebook? I don't want to have FB but seems messenger is somehow connected to it? I'm pretty useless with technology.

Why not just use Whats Ap.

Messenger is part of Facebook and pre 2019 it was available as a standalone by deactivating the FB account except for messenger, but this is no longer allowed.

As pp says, use WhatsApp instead.
