Hacked Microsoft account and Minecraft

Help! DS13 has had his Microsoft account taken over twice now in 3 weeks, I just bought Minecraft for him (again..) and it’s gone (again) he had two factor authentication set up but the hackers disabled it, took off security settings and changed everything and now I have to set up a new account (and buy Minecraft again… ) it’s so annoying- expensive and time consuming and I honestly don’t know how this has happened. He changed all passwords 3 weeks ago and we have Microsoft defender on all the devices. Also I cannot get hold of Microsoft the help is not working at all today it keeps logging me in and out and won’t bring up help chat and calling them doesn’t work either. 🤯😩 can’t anyone offer advice? Have you removed all the 'cookies'?

Do you have any 'malware' software protection?

i used a totally new version of windows - will look into CCleaner - yes Microsoft defender is supposed to work against malware - unfortunately as it’s linked to the Microsoft account I cannot see if it detected anything as it’s all logged out.

And will erase cookies - fhanks

Personally I wouldn’t have rebought it the first time and would have contacted them then. I think someone must be getting into his account and adding their email and deleting his as account holder?

Im sure you get confirmation emails to do this so I’m wondering if it’s email address that has been hacked? It’s really easy once you are in to email to get confirmations , reset passwords etc perhaps it’d explain why people were able to once again get through all the security. Minecraft accounts are tied to my email rather than DC and never had an issue.

he changed his email passwords too and we can’t find any evidence the email has been hacked.. Minecraft is tied to a Microsoft account and Microsoft just say tough you have to buy it again as it cannot be transferred to another Microsoft account - I escalated to Microsoft 3 weeks ago and contacted mojang as well and they wouldn’t reinstate the Minecraft account or provide a voucher - they said I had to buy it again - it’s ridiculous

We got confirmation emails but as soon as we tried to log in the account had gone - literally took them one minute and we couldn’t log in again
