iPhone 16 pro or wait for 17?

Does anyone have any advice on upgrading mine and DH’s iPhones. Details- We both currently have iPhone 13. Contracts end September 23rd. We are planning to upgrade early on August 23rd to an iPhone 16 pro (me) and iPhone 16 pro max (DH)

DH’s battery health is at 74% so he’s is pretty desperate to upgrade ASAP. I’m not in as much as a hurry. I’d love to get a new phone but can hang on an extra month if needed as my battery is 84%.

I think DH will definitely be getting the 16 pro max next weekend. I’m torn, is it worth me just getting the pro now or should I wait a month to see the iPhone 17?

We are budget conscious, so upgrading with a specific phone network as we get staff discount which is significant enough that we can afford the pro/pro max here but not with anyone else.

My thoughts are, we likely won’t be able to afford the 17 pro/pro max. So it will be 16 pro vs 17 standard. (Assuming they’ll cost more than the current pro/pro max)

Anyone with any knowledge or advice would be appreciated

I think Apple offer some sort of deal on battery replacement on iPhones of a certain age. Because they know their battery age so badly.
I don't know the details but it's something I read about a while back.

I always get the previous years released handset (I’m on a contract where I can swap my phone every year, and do so before the battery health starts declining) and to be perfectly honest, there is very little noticeable difference from one year to the next.
If you’re planning on keeping your new phone for a few years, then I’d say hold off and get the 17. If you’re planning on upgrading again in a couple of years, stick with the 16.

I’m planning to get it on 3 year contract, like our current iPhone 13s have been. I’m thinking then it might be worth me holding out and checking out the 17.

good point about the battery replacement, will look into to that. I don’t think his will be very valuable to sell on due to the poor battery health
