Air tag help

Hoping the wisdom of mumsnet will be able to help. I’m looking at getting an AirTag for my DD12 who has a basis simple phone; so no internet or Bluetooth facilities.

I have an iPhone so can do the initial setup of the air tag but will I be able to track the AirTag from my phone when in her school bag, if she hasn’t got a smart phone?

Yes, you can track the AirTag from your iPhone even if your DD12 doesn’t have a smartphone. AirTags use the Find My network, which picks up signals from any nearby Apple device, not just your own. So as long as there are iPhones nearby (e.g., at school), the AirTag's location will update, and you’ll be able to see it on your phone. No internet or Bluetooth needed on her end.
