Advice needed please with Ring doorbell

I’ve recently moved house and have inherited a Ring doorbell. I’d like if possible to reactivate it but I’m clueless. Does anyone know how I would go about it? It currently lights up and rings when pressed but the ring is only heard within the doorbell unit, I can’t hear it inside the house.

I’ve set up the Ring app on my phone in the hope it would “find” the doorbell but no joy. Has anybody bought a house with a Ring doorbell and managed to get it working? Any advice gratefully received.

To hear it in the house you'll need to buy plug in chimes.
There will be a setup function in the app I think, try scanning the QR code on the bottom or back of the doorbell if you can find one?

LMGTFY
1. Download the Ring app:

  1. Search for "Ring" in the App Store or Google Play Store and download the app with the blue bell icon.
2. Create a Ring account:
  1. Open the Ring app and follow the prompts to create an account or log in if you already have one.
3. Select your device:
  1. In the app, tap "Set Up a Device" and choose "Video Doorbell".
4. Name your device:
  1. Assign a name to your doorbell for easy identification, especially if you have multiple Ring devices.
5. Confirm your address:
  1. Ensure your street address is correctly entered in the app.
  2. 6. Activate setup mode:
  3. Press and release the button on the back of the doorbell. The light on the front should spin white, indicating setup mode.
7. Charge the doorbell:
  1. If the light doesn't spin, charge the doorbell using the provided USB cable until a full blue circle forms on the front light.
8. Connect to Wi-Fi:
  1. Follow the app's instructions to connect your doorbell to your Wi-Fi network, ensuring you enter the correct password.
9. Complete the setup:
  1. The doorbell should flash blue four times after successfully connecting to Wi-Fi, indicating the setup is complete.

Thanks for your reply. There’s a cupboard just inside the front door back to back with the bell and there appears to be a door bell box there wired into the mains. But it’s currently silent. I’ll have a look for the QR code thanks.

You don’t need to buy a chime. I f you use Alexa’s they can play the noise in the house when it is pressed.
