How get my calendar on my phone to pick up the meetings/appointments in my outlook calendar

I have outlook on my mobile phone, to receive emails.

The calendar function is useless, I cant pick up appointments that I put in my laptop in the outlook calendar.

Ive tried 'troubleshooting' and all that leads me to do is go round in circles putting in an 'IMAP' password and it just sends me back to the same page

I have no idea what Im doing, I dont understand any of this. Other advice says go to settings in the outlook app. I have no 'settings' in the outlook app. It just has mail, calender (which is empty) and a button called 'apps' which does nothing.

Or is there another calendar app that I can use that will pick up the appointments in my laptop outlook calendar?

Every calendar I try to use is not working. Ive tried the calendar that comes with the phone, but I cant seem to get that to work on my laptop even though I can access my phone apps on my laptop, the dates wont move along and randomly jump to 2023 or 2026 etc

I then tried to download an app called Cozi for sharing calendars, and it wont let me add a family member or invite anyone to an event.

My OH and I just want a way to organise our appointments and holidays etc, we're getting in a real muddle with it. I cant write and I struggle to use the phone so need to input them in the laptop but need to be able to see them on the phone. And send to invite him etc.

I think you can just download the outlook calendar app itself

FuglyBitch · 14/04/2025 22:05

Is it android?

Is there a way of getting the calendar on the phone to pick up the appointments on my laptop? I have the calendar on the phone already as I have outlook and emails on the phone, it comes up and says this does not support meetings or calenders.

@soupyspoon in theory, if you use an outlook calendar on your laptop and an outlook calendar on your phone and both are signed in with the same account details then everything should be mirrored. It’s hard to tell what’s going on without looking at it to be honest.

things to check:
are you definitely logged in with the same account details on both?

is the calendar that you are using in the outlook app or the ‘native’ calendar on the phone / laptop

my other suggestion would be to ditch outlook for calendars altogether and use something like google instead

Thanks, yes its the same account I only have one email address.

From what I was reading last night, and I dont understand a lot of it, if you have IMAP (and I dont know what that is really), the outlook calender wont work. however there is a way to set up your emails on a phone that doesnt use this but I dont know what that means or how to do it.

OH has his phone, same email provider, same set up, IMAP codes or whatever, we did all the settings together and it will allow him to use the calender and it took the dates from the laptop outlook calendar and put it on his phone outlook. But me with the same settings, the calender doesnt work.

So I dont know to be honest. Niehter of us know what we're doing

I need a calender that I have on my computer, that will transfer to my phone and that I can invite him to. I tried to get a lot of calenders last night, signing up for them, putting them in, and they dont really work the way I need it to. So frustrating. He couldnt access google calender for some reason, he cant access googlplaystore, it was just sending him round and round in circles, so many he couldnt get the calendar.

You might have confused your phone. Get rid of the calendars you've just downloaded - leave the one that came with your phone restart your phone and then give it a go.
You should be able to have a calendar that works on your phone and laptop and can be shared with others

Ive never been able to use the outlook calender though on my phone, this isnt only after downloading other calenders. And the Cozi one, I cant seem to get rid of. I also got FamilyWall

The calender that is just the phone calender I cant share with him or use on my laptop

You’re right OP, all the settings can be confusing. In the simplest terms, IMAP is a type of email that mirrors everything across all your devices (if you delete an email on your computer, it’ll also delete on your phone etc) and the other type POP, is one that makes changes locally and won’t make the same change on another device. All of the major email providers these days will be IMAP. Outlook definitely is.

I agree with @howcanitbetrue that you should delete your email / calendar account from your phone and add it in again by signing in with your outlook details. Don’t change any settings - the default ones should be enough.
