iPhone 7 to IPhone16 ?

Help !

I'm buying my DH a new phone as his iPhone 7 that he is wedded to is nearly dead.

However I'm no tech expert and he is worse than me (!)

Q - does he need a new SIM card for new phone ?

Q - can he transfer all phone numbers photos and videos over somehow ?

Q - will he need to download all APPs again

I'm a bit of a dinosaur with technology but having recently swapped iPhones, I'm a little bit more clued up.

Not if you buy a phone that is unlocked. That means that it isn't network-specific.

Q - can he transfer all phone numbers photos and videos over somehow ?

He should have the data on his current iPhone backed up to the iCloud (you can check this out in settings) and it's a fairly simple process to transfer this to a new iPhone.

Q - will he need to download all APPs again

As above - apps and data should be stored in iCloud. Essentially, it'll have the same layout and have all of his things on it the way it was after the transfer of data.

As long as he has an appleID with iCloud backup set to ‘on’, he should be able to transfer all of the above to the new phone almost automatically following the steps on new phones’ set up wizard.

To check this, Go to settings and at the top should be his name with apple account written underneath.
Click on the name, and scroll slightly down and his phone should be listed under devices.
Click on the phone name and there’s an option to toggle iCloud back up on/off.

I believe an iPhone 16 uses an eSim, not a physical card but it's easy to apply, just needs to check with his provider.
