Please can you set an iPhone 15,
17.6.1
To run an app permanently, never be turned off?
I have a new diabetic pump 780, and in order to run closed loop Safeguard, I want the Medtronic Carelink mobile app to run permanently. I want to set it so that it's always running, never be accidentally turned off.

Please does anyone have any suggestions?

Shouldn’t that be a default setting within the app itself?

Oblomov24 · 26/10/2024 23:50

I don't know driedonion, how would I check that?

Note: The app sends and receives data only when the app is running on the compatible mobile device. The app does not receive data from the pump if you force the app to close. Keep the app open or running in the background.

@Oblomov24 I interpret that as the app running unless you close it so you should be fine?

IWouldLikeToKnow · 26/10/2024 23:59

My friend uses this for her son. It is always running and receiving data. She gets high/low alerts when she's on on the app and will regularly look back at all the data from the previous number of hours

Well thanks.
I just wondered if you can set any app to run in the background, on settings, rather than having it permanently open.

We use Omnipid and Dexcom and they run in the background all the time, it take some time getting them set up, do you have anyone from your diabetic team that could point you in the right direction

Oblomov24 · 27/10/2024 08:56

I will thanks, I have 3 people from different organisations I can contact.

But I just wondered, before I did that, if there was a more generic thing, non diabetics Wink, there must be others who want to have a setting on their iPhone to set, to have an app running permanently in the background?

I have searched quite a bit on Google already, lots of suggestions, but none were quite what I wanted.

Non diabetic here 😁
Make sure background app refresh is on. Its in Settings, then General on iPhone - you can choose which apps from there.

Thanks Driedonion, it was off, I've now turned it on.

Thanks Driedonion, it was off, I've now turned it on.

Hopefully that will do it. You might find your battery life is shortened. I have it switched off for non essential apps. 🙂
