Tinder keeps installing itself on my phone

Happened maybe 5-6 times over the last few months. I never was a tinder user. I never installed it, never used it, never had an account with them. I keep de-i stalling it and after a few weeks it is back.

I have an android phone. Anyone any idea what is going on?

Have you got family sharing? Perhaps someone on your network has it?

I just googled ‘app keeps popping up on my phone’ it says delete suspicious apps and that a recently downloaded app is likely to be the culprit. Did u download another app around the time it started?

terriblyangryattimes · 30/10/2024 10:10

Are you with Three? They have this annoying three automatically installed app that suggests and downloads apps it thinks you might like. I've disabled THAT app so it can't keept downloading apps for me I don't want.

Spasisters · 30/10/2024 10:11

Also do u have an android?

‘These unwanted apps arrive on a person's phone through the automatic download feature on Android, which is often enabled by default. Users can delete unwanted apps that have already been installed and then turn off automatic downloads by unchecking “Auto-download preference” in their Google Play Settings.’

yes, android and no, not with three.

It started a while ago. cannot remember if I installed something around the same time.

will check my Playstore settings. thank you @Spasisters .

I hope if you have a partner they’re not posting on mumsnet after seeing you have a dating app!

(only half joking, no-one on here would believe an app could auto install…)

Do you share your device with anyone? Or a linked device - like an iPad? I have an iPad and an iPhone - if my husband downloads an app onto the iPad for my son, it downloads onto my iPhone, too.

Does anyone else have access to your phone?

helloMickey · 30/10/2024 10:37

nothing linked, nobody has access. probably something with my playstore settings. no other explanation makes sense.

Happened to me too. No idea how. DH luckily thinks it is hilarious. But deleted straightaway.

Spasisters · 30/10/2024 11:35

Hopefully you get it sorted
