How can I stop Norton freezing my laptop?

I have the latest version of Norton installed on my (old Windows 11) laptop and it seems to be constantly running in the background and making everything else run really slowly. And It's every time I switch it on. For example it's just taken 10 minutes to copy about 30 small jpeg photos from my phone viaa USB cable. It's getting so that I'm close to uninstalling the bloody thing. Any tips?

I uninstalled mine for this very reason. Just use Windows' built in anti-virus.

Thanks @Game0fCrones I have now done the same (only just renewed so got a refund).

As anti virus programs go, Norton is one of the heavier for resource usage. If you do want to use one in addition to the built in one with Windows (belt and braces) I'd suggest something like Bitdefender which is better with resources usage and in my own experience, has much less impact on performance.
