Lost phone can apple block?

Lost my phone. Not on contract anymore. Can apple block it? Thanks

Do you have another device with ‘Find My’ app set up? You can class the lost phone as lost, lock it, and change the Lock Screen to a message of your choice ie ‘this phone is lost, please call this number’. I did that recently, had my phone back within the hour. Good luck!

There's a couple of things you can try.

Attempt to log on to iCloud.com, if you don't know your password attempt to reset it using your email address. If you can log in see if the phone is shown in "find my", if it is you can attempt to erase it. (assuming you had enabled find my enabled).

You will also be able to access a back up of your phone.

If you know your IMEI number you can request your mobile provider to activate a network block (as opposed to a network lock).

If you don't know the IMEI it will be on the box, usually on the receipt, and is stored on your Apple account in devices.

Again if you don't know your credentials try resetting your password.

Going forward I urge you to set up your next phone with iCloud.com, and enable find my and backup.

The phone doesn't need to be under a contract. Contact the provider of the SIM and ask for the phone to be blocked.

My phone provider (Sky at the time) were able to block my stolen iPhone even though it wasn’t the phone bought from them on their contract. They could find the IMEI number from the sim I assume.
