My Facebook account has been hacked and deleted but i need it for work! How can i retrieve it.

My Facebook account has been hacked and deleted. I can't access it. No one else can see it either.

It happened overnight last month.

The account has been deleted. The password has been changed and the mobile number removed.

I use it for work so it's really stressful that I don't have it anymore. I'm self employed so it's really impacting on that and engaging with clients.

It's showing a Chinese email address as having compromised it.

I've contacted meta but no reply and all the guidelines only apply if you have some form of access to the account.

I can't seem to appeal via Instagram either. No reply there. There doesn't seem to be a way to appeal it.

I also had a friend of a friend who works at meta submit an internal ticket to address it but that didn't yield anything either. I've even tweeted mark Zuckerberg!

And finally I've just been scammed by some dodgy geezer who promised retrieval but has now blocked me on twitter. No fool like an old fool.

I've had the account since 2007 and really really want it back. I don't want a new one , i need the one i already had. Surely there must be some way to try to retrieve it? Can anyone suggest a way?

It’s worrying that you fell for this.

The Facebook account is gone and Facebook will not help you to get it back, they don’t care. For the sake of your income you need to set up new socials and get on with building your pages back up again.

You need to create a completely separate email for the accounts that you don’t make public, use 2FA for everything and different passwords on each account that you do not use elsewhere.

Thank you..i realise this but I'm determined to get it back. I'm thinking to pay for fb business to try to get to speak to a human that way to address it.

I lost mine due to a hack a few years ago. Despite trying non-stop, I never had any luck with meta and eventually it was completely deleted. Was devastated as I also had it linked to my business (had FB business but still found talking to an actual human near impossible) and also lost years of memories (lots of random pics from uni/the early years of my children.)

I really hope you manage to access yours OP, it sounds dramatic but it genuinely was and is still really upsetting to have lost it. Sorry you fell for the retrieval scammers. They came in their droves!

If it is a business try a report a copyright infringement route. If it’s not up anymore it’s not really copyright infringement but there has to be a reason someone did this. If you can find similar new accounts with same name?ie. Did they delete to have the page name become reavailable?

They are very quick on response to copyright stuff.

Sadly no happy ending... meta didn't reply to any of my messages and even a friend of a friend who works for meta who put in a ticket for me couldn't get anyone to action it.

I tried for 7 months but couldn't retrieve it. Very sad to lose it after 17 years plus it's got my work account connected so lost that too.

I've now for 2fa on everything as i can't deal with it happening again!

But the hackers changed my details and deleted my account. If they haven't got that far with yours then you could keep trying. A friend got hers back when they hadn't changed her phone number and she managed to get back in and lock them out.

This has happened to a couple of friends of mine - one of them got it back but it took 4 years

Thanks for your reply. That's such a shame, I'm sorry you didn't get it back. Can I ask if you got any response from Facebook at any point and if so how did you contact them? I have tried emailing [email protected] but no response yet. They seem to have removed both my email address and phone number from account so if I try to find them via the hacked section of the help centre it just says there is no account linked to these details. Luckily my work account was saved as my business partner was admin as well so they just removed me as admin. It's the 18 years worth of photos I'm most bothered about as I don't think they are all backed up!

No response from meta at any point despite repeat emails, messages and contact..I even got a friend of a friend to raise a ticket with them (they work there). Nothing!

This happened to me about 4 years ago. I had to start a new account. I lost my best friend to cancer in that time and I find it utterly immoral that they don't care about their customers enough to help in this scenario. I put very little on it now in case it happens again-I believe my email address was hacked and the only reason I'm back on it is that I'm forced to be on it for my business. I'm so over FB. Full of utter shite anyway-apart from the Groups I really enjoyed.
