How to 'cast' to TV with no cast icon on laptop

I like to 'cast' from YouTube to my TV. I've just changed TV/internet service provider, and now I have no 'cast' icon when I view YT on the laptop. My ipad has the same problem.

The "support" at the service provider is useless... they just repeat "click on the cast icon" and refuse to acknowledge that I have no cast icon.

Does anyone know if there is some setting on the laptop that I have to enable? Professor Google han't been much help. I've tried both Chrome browser and also AVG Secure browser. The ipad is Safari, of course.

So basically you want to output to an external screen? In which operating system? Windows? Or iOS?

Yes, my former service provider allowed me to "cast" (through wi-fi, I suppose) to my TV. YT had a "cast icon". Click on "cast", and a info box pops up showing what devises are available, my TV in this case. The new service provider also has this system, but... as I said... I have no 'cast' icon, so I'm stuck.

The laptop is windoze, the ipad is IOS, I suppose.

Can you just download a screen mirroring app?

Apparently I may be able to "enable screen-sharing mode" on the updated version of YouTube, so I'll try that. It's an adventure.

Your ISP aren’t responsible for casting as it is handled between the sending device (laptop/ipad) and receiving device (TV/plug in device)

They do need to be on the same network, so there may be something related to a new network name/password - your TV/receiving device needs to be connected to the network - it may be as simple as going into the configuration.

What TV do you have?
Do you have a ChromeCast, AmazonFire etc plugged in to it?

As you were able to cast before and it’s now stopped on both laptop and iPad then the chances are that it’s your network configuration that needs to be reconnected to the new network

(assuming your laptop, iPad, TV, other devices haven’t been changed)

If they are all connected to the new WiFi then check that they are all logged into the same WiFi network - there will be multiple frequency options and may also have at least two ‘networks’ running - for example to have your ‘normal’ home WiFi and a second ‘visitors’ WiFi
