Swollen battery

I've just come across an old power bank in a draw, the battery is extremely swollen. The casing is split open significantly.

Does anyone know how I can make this safe in the short term? Also how I can dispose of it safely?

Put it outside? Somewhere were if it did go pop it wouldn’t catch anything else.

Thanks. I've put it outside but wondered what type of container is best or should it be in sand etc. I have no idea how to dispose of it safely longer term.

Do you have a local council recycling centre you can take it to? They should be able to accept it.
