Hi, my first post :)

He was 11 early September (and I still think that's a bit too early tbh)

He has ASD and ADHD (may be relevant to the post, may not be)

Does anyone have any suggestions on what a good first phone, please?

He will not have any social media apps. I will have Family Link. Must be Android.

The simpler the better for me. He will be allowed to use WhatsApp.

Thank you very much :)

My dd's first phone was a google pixel that we got off of Music Magpie. I can't remember which model it was (this was a few years ago now though and I'm sure they've come out with quite a few newer ones since then!) but it runs on Android.

If your willing to spend £1500 get him a s23 ultra

Moto g32 is £100 in most places at the moment. This is sufficient for what you need. You can spend much more but you don't need to!

I really am not willing to spend that much on any phone, let alone a first phone for an 11 year old.

Both my children had a payg basic phone for school and out/about as they only needed to phone me for pick ups or emergencies. I didn't get a data package so they could only use WhatsApp at home or friends house on wifi, which also meant no browsing Internet at school etc. In the first year most mobiles get "abused" by throwing, or tossing, or bag kicking, or blazer throwing/used as goal posts so I made it clear that if this first phone was looked after properly then they could upgrade it to a better one in a year.

We have had Sony, Google pixel, Motorola and one plus. All are great phones. We have bought all of ours outright from Argos. I have an asda payg which I can top up online or in shop.

Ds2 will have a Samsung a14 as that's the same model (but newer) as Ds1 got. It's the right price point for us at £115 for 4g or £137 for 5g version.
He will also be on payg until September when he starts secondary school and then he will have a contract as he will need data on his hour long bus journey.

How much would you like to spend?

My son has an honor x8 which was about £200 and is so fast and has a lovely screen, but the s23 ultra would be much better
