Being driven mad by Chrome pop up - some sort of news and weather thing

This is driving me bonkers.

At the bottom of my screen when in Chrome sits some sort of information, usually has the temperature with a cloud or picture of rain etc, right now it seems to be showing me some sort of stocks and shares information with an arrow etc

It seems to link to some sort of news screen which randomly and unwanted often pops up, covers the right hand side of the screen and CANNOT be removed or clicked out of. There is no x to x out of it or remove it, it sits there for ages when of its own accord it will disappear, only to rear its head again at some random time.

How on earth do I get rid of this, it happens on my work computer too but I can tolerate that better because its work!!

Right click on the taskbar somewhere to get a popup menu with "Taskbar settings" right at the bottom - click that. Then scroll down on the right hand side and toggle off the switch for "Show news and interests on the taskbar". hth

You dont need to turn it off, just do as above and turn off "open on hover", you will still get the weather, but not that dirty pop up window
