MP3 Music Download Platform Recommendations

Can anyone recommend a music platform for MP3 downloads please?

I have been using Amazon so far but it’s getting too clunky and has less and less of the tracks I want to purchase.

Not looking for free music, very happy to pay - just finding Amazon is too hit and miss.

Any reason you're wanting mp4 downloads rather than streaming?

MP3...not 4. The weather has addled my brain.

Oh yes, to download tracks to a waterproof MP3 player - for swimming

Apple Music - you get a family subscription so other people can use it too. In this house it’s just three of us but still good value. You might also like Spotify and we get that free with a subscription to our daily newspaper.

Oh I see. Trouble is you're sort of using a platform that is dying, especially for anything new. I use bluetooth bone conductor headphones and then my phone on the side of the pool, streaming from Spotify, would that work?

Thanks, both of those are great ideas - off to do my research now…

Daisyjgrey - can I ask please, do you find the Bluetooth headphones work well for fast freestlye/ e.g. lots of head underwater/ tumble turns and dynamic swimming please? (Before I invest). 😊

Sounds like you've somehow ended up with a waterproof music player. Something that you plug into your computer and drag files to as if it's a USB drive? I'm going to assume that's what's going on.

First off, if it has bluetooth, just connect it to your phone and play music from your phone using whatever you use to play music from your phone now while swimming and ignore the rest of my post. If nor read on.

Don't go with Apple Music or iTunes. This sounds like it's some kind of non-Apple device, so you would have difficulty getting any music you buy out iTunes and into the device.

Amazon is probably still going to be your best bet for anything mainstream. The problem is that the industry has decided it would rather get it's £10/month out of everyone, rather than sell music as one-off purchases, so there are few places that offer MP3 downloads for sale. https://uk.7digital.com/ is another one, but you have to make sure you're only buying DRM free music. https://bandcamp.com/ might be an option for more obscure stuff, and if you have stuff on CD I would just find a computer with a CD drive and use that top copy it to MP3.
