Am I ridiculous? I need advice please.
I know what people think to paying insurance for electrical items but as we don't have much money I thought this was the best way. (Probably a contradiction yes). I know people say to put money aside instead of paying insurance for phones but we would spend it as we don't have enough money to cover the bills. These aren't new models.
We pay £45.84 a month for 2 IPads and 4 iPhones and £25 for the boiler. All to the same company.
9 March
I made a claim on my iPhone.
I knew there would be an excess of around £80 but I didn't notice in the terms that I had to also pay all remaining instalments due for the policy year so it would be £142? I couldn't afford that. I'm on the lowest PIP.
I have an iPad and boiler I've tried to claim for too and I'm so confused by it all (autistic / dyspraxia / dyslexic etc).
23 June
By now I had paid a couple of monthly instalments so the amount i had to pay was now £117.45. My mum gave me the money.
25 June
I haven't heard anything. I email asking if they know when my phone will be collected.
29 June
I receive a reply to say the Claims Team have advised that i should be contacted by a courier later today to arrange when they can collect my gadget.
July 1st
I email again to say It’s been over a week and I’ve not heard a thing. It’s not even been collected.
July 4th
I received a phone call to say they will email me a postage label and I need to package my phone and I take it to a post office. I was literally about to go away for 5 days with my mum and children.
I take my phone to the post office but they said they couldn’t accept it. They said it needed to go to a sorting office. I had to leave for my holiday. I don't drive. The nearest sorting office is in town.
I email to tell them. I said I wish I had gone with another insurance provider as I have no phone. I’ve had to borrow one but I can only do limited things on it.
July 5
I receive a reply "I am currently chasing an update with the engineer for you now and as soon as we receive a response I will update you accordingly".
July 7
I revieve an email "Do you know why they couldn't accept your package?
Can you let me know when you are due to return from your holiday and I will see what I can do to help?
July 7
I reply "Because apparently it had to go to a sorting office not a post office"
July 8
I receive a reply "Ok, I understand now, thanks for letting us know. Can you let me know once the order has been placed and I will inform the engineer?"
July 8
I go to a Sorting Office which was a hassle in itself. The label is now out of date. I email to
Let them know.
I emailed to complain.....
Three weeks ago I paid the excess to make a claim on my mobile.
I didn’t hear from you for a week. Your website says the turnaround is 3 days.
Eventually after emailing I’m told a COURIER will collect my phone. Days later (the day I go away for a week) you email me a postage label and inform me to package the item and take to a POST OFFICE. Imagine the hassle just as I’m going away. I do this as I need a phone. I go to the post office. They cannot accept it. It needs to be a SORTING OFFICE. I email to tell you this and that I’m going away so I’ll have to do it once I’m home.
July 10
Two days later no reply.
13 July
I email. I have just come back from my holiday. I’ve taken the parcel to be posted and it’s now out of date. I don’t understand why my claim is taking so long?
14 July
Following up on my last email, the engineer has got back to me regarding your phone repair advising they've sent a new label over to you and is usable for 7 days. I expect this to arrive today but if you have any issues please let me know.
27 July
I still haven't received the postage label or had a reply to my complaint.
4 weeks later I have no phone. What would you do please?
Thank you.
