Odd script on emails!

cantheydothisreally · 13/07/2022 09:28

Just looking for advice

In the last month I have been receiving emails that I cannot read the script for, not all emails, just some.

I use a microsoft surface and have not changed anything

I have removed my avira security to see if that makes a difference and it doesn't

I have attached an example

Any ideas?

Do the unreadable emails originate from the same account/accounts?

cantheydothisreally · 10/08/2022 07:42

Hi technophobic the emails are from several different accounts but all to my yahoo.co.uk email

Any ideas?

I think that is HTML, which is the code that is used to develop websites. Who are they from? Looks like nonsense e mails to me.

mighteeaphroditee · 10/08/2022 08:00

An expert may be along soon but from an amateur...

... it is html and much of what I can see seems display related, so it should be creating something visual in your email, possibly with a clickable link. (That said, I don't know whether that is how you even do it. I know some html from blog design)

It may be that someone has tried copying a brand banner, say, and putting it in the email. Is it a sender you know or trust ? Or random spam ?

Thanks all

To clarify the emails are regular emails that I can read when I access then via my app on iPhone/ipad and look normal. However, whenI read them on my surface computer they cannot be read.

They are not junk emails. Some emails arrive ok, others are not.

I hope that explains further?

Have you tried toggling the display settings on whichever email app you use on your surface? You might have accidentally switched to 'display as plain text'

cantheydothisreally · 10/08/2022 08:28

I have checked the settings, as it is only some emails not all would this not affect all of them?

How are you viewing your email on your surface pc? The windows mail app or via a browser?

cantheydothisreally · 10/08/2022 08:46

When I view on the ipad they view ok

On surface computer some, not all, have the odd script Sad

Technophobic · 10/08/2022 08:48

On your surface pc do you log into your email via a browser or through the mail app?

cantheydothisreally · 10/08/2022 08:49

Through app on computer Smile

Try logging in via a browser instead. Do you get the affected emails looking normal or are they still odd?

cantheydothisreally · 10/08/2022 08:55
