iPhone Messenger app

The FB Messenger app on my iPhone is indicating I have an unread message, but I don't.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can either find the message or otherwise get rid of the notification?

Click on your profile image, top left. Then look down the list for Message Requests. See if something is showing in that.

Thanks for the suggestion but I've done that. Nothing there.

Deleting and reinstalling the app seems to have worked.

Please does anyone have help for searching on mumsnet. iPhone app.
When I search for something it always takes me to 2016, or 2012, not recent stuff.

And I've deleted and installed the app a number of times over the years, every time I get a newer iPhone, but it always does this.
