I got a new tattoo today and I feel it may be my last.
I j7st don't have the energy anymore.
The pain is getting worse.
I can't get comfortable.
As much as I love gettting tattooed
,I think this might be it.

Are tattoos a journey?
Not being sarcastic honesty.

I thought I'd enjoy getting tattooed longer than I have.

I quite like them on a young person who is radically individual. Not seen anyone over 50 that looks cool-once your skin is like crepe paper, they just look chavvy.

LookingThroughGlass · 26/01/2026 19:24

Sorry, there's a small typo in your OP, are you 7 stone or 17 stone? Whichever it is, it sounds like it's not a healthy weight for you - could the answer be to address this instead of seeking refuge in tattoos?

EnjoythemoneyJane · 26/01/2026 19:45

The typo is the word ‘just’ - don’t think the OP was saying she’s the wrong weight for tats 😂

DeanStockwell · 26/01/2026 19:51

How many have you got ?
It always takes a few days for the pain to fade , just remember to look after it while it heals

It's supposed to say just ,no need to be rude

I’ve heard of women saying the pain of tattoos for worse after childbirth! Probably the body stops producing the endorphins after a certain age.

I’ve got 2 and decided enough. I felt like I had to go all in or stop so I did.

changednameagainobvs · 26/01/2026 20:19

What did you get tattooed OP? I decided similar after paying a deposit for one last year, it was a cover up, not massive, but I just couldn't face the pain, as someone with a chronic pain condition. Recently I've been thinking about just having a small new one. I've always wanted one on my wrist and also my foot. I'll probably book it in soon, I miss having them done!

I don't think OP was asking for opinions on how tattoos look on people of any age. This is the tattoo board, leave people alone!

Sorry, I thought you were saying your weight was causing you to be tired. I'm not sure why you thought my post was rude, I was trying to suggest if you're suffering tiredness, your health should be your priority rather than tattoos - 7st could easily be underweight depending on height, and 17st is usually overweight unless you are an athlete.

Anyway, you've clarified that wasn't what you were trying to say. I wish you the best.

I've about 30.
I was going to start my leg sleeve later this year.
But today's tattoo might have changed my mind

Wasn't even a big tattoo.
But I sat there halfway thank said this it.
I'm done.

I think neck tattos can look very sexy on young slim, toned things. As soon as the jaw line starts to soften or necklace lines creep in, the look really isn't so good.

BUT! They dont have them to please my eyes

DoubleShotEspressox · 27/01/2026 16:12

How you manage a tattoo does depend a lot on mindset going into it.

I finished a full leg piece recently and the last sitting was seven hours. For the first five I was fine - I chatted, had a podcast on, scrolled YouTube, told myself over and over again THIS IS FINE.

But if you go in and focus solely on the pain, it’ll never last and you’ll crack.

Might not be over for you - try and pick a time when you’re not emotional, tired, hormonal, under the weather, hungover, hungry etc. All those factors affect me.

I've a decent amount tattoos,so I don't think it's that's.
But my mindset has definitely changed.
I'm not as excited anymore to being tattooed and I think that's it.

Snob

I’d add to “snob”: narrow minded, ageist and judgmental.
I’m 62 and still up for more tattoos, also well cared for skin doesn’t look like crepe paper ( at fifty or indeed at any age).

Hedjwitch · 17/04/2026 16:12

Am 62 and got this a few weeks ago. Chavvy and crepey?

Hedjwitch · 17/04/2026 16:13

Darn, pressed post instead of add image!

It’s lovely and you have beautiful skin.
Is it a flower with a special personal meaning?

Ladyinamask · 17/04/2026 16:25

Tattoo removal seems to be the current trend. I gather it's also very painful though? I know 3 people now this year who have had tattoos removed.
I even read the other day Victoria Beckham had had hers removed so I guess it's not just a local thing where I am.

GetOffTheCounter · 17/04/2026 16:26

Sorry- just curious. how much would that sort of thing cost? I am fascinated by tattoos, but have never really settled on something I'd like for myself. I have all sorts of tattoo books etc but literally not a single tattoo of my own!
