I suggest Sudocrem. Bur l only have one tattoo, love it, but stopping at one, those with more tats may have other ideas.

dementedpixie · 18/01/2025 11:10

My tattooist recommended Palmers cocoa butter. I would not recommend sudocrem!

LuckysDadsHat · 18/01/2025 11:10

I have 4 tattoos and have used Bepanthan on all of them.

dementedpixie · 18/01/2025 11:11

@CosyPeachPombear you could always ask the tattoo artist for advice too

I have 4 tattoos and have used Bepanthan on all of them.

I have heard that one is good

I used bepanthen on my first one but not sure it's recommended now although I think they have a tattoo version. Used Palmers cocoa butter on the other 3.

fivebyfivebuffy · 18/01/2025 11:13

I've used tattoo goo for mine

PeppiKoala · 18/01/2025 11:14

Avoid Bepantham. It's not recommended any more. I have loads of tattoos and palmers cocoa butter is perfect.

Yes ime this is tattooist choice and actually work bedt for me - (though a certain amount of maturing and doing better self care on my part may also be a factor)

Sparkletastic · 18/01/2025 12:52

Tattoo artists no longer recommend Bepanthen. Cocoa butter or Aveeno are good.

Thisinfuriatingplace · 18/01/2025 22:54

I had a tattoo yesterday, recommended to me the palmers cocoa butter fragrance free, I have used the one shown above with no issues at all. Apparently the bepanthen tattoo and normal one are virtually the same - except the tattoo version has added B5 I think it was. I’ve used bepanthen before with no issues, was advised not to use it now

NoodleDoodleDandy · 23/01/2025 13:12

Your tattooist should recommend what works well for their work. Mine uses Butterluxe which I've always found works well.

LieutenantJumboJr · 14/02/2025 22:56

Hustle Butter is the best I’ve found and my artist uses it. It smells amazing too

BookASpaceCadets · 14/02/2025 23:00

You can get tattoo balm/butter from Amazon, which is amazing. However coconut oil is really cheap and readily available.
Keep is moisturised rather than dry, sudocreme is really drying, as you don’t want it to peel too early.

claudiawinklemansfringetrimmer · 14/02/2025 23:01

Bepanthan has always worked well for me

Rainbowbub22 · 15/02/2025 01:16

I used sudocream on one of my tattoos and some of the ink came out, I had to go back and have it touched up again so I personally don't recommend using that. I've had another 2 since then and I use tattoo goo, brought from Amazon, it's worked fine, tattoos healed and scabs fallen off in a week

AutumnColours9 · 15/02/2025 01:18

Tattoo goo

MoonWoman69 · 15/02/2025 01:31

Bepanthan here on all 5 of mine. No issue whatsoever. Your tattooist may even sell some sort of cream. Mine had some magic gel stuff, can't remember the name now, but it was £12 a bottle and I'd already spent enough on the last tat!!!

AliceMcK · 15/02/2025 01:42

I got given a small pot of something when I had my first, I can’t remember what it was called but it was from my tattooist, it was great. She said when I ran out use Bodyshop Shea or Coco Palmers body butters.

She said don’t use sudocrem ever. That’s my magic cream so I would have automatically used it if she hadn’t of said no.

For my second I only used the Shew butter and Coco palmers. My DH used both of these too.

Ahh yes Butterluxe, this is what I used with my first it was amazing.

I just had my 7th tattoo this week (as in 7th overall spanning 20+ years, not 7 in a week). My artist did recommend Bepanthen but as I already had palmers cocoa butter in the house I've been using that instead. It's what I used on my last few tattoos and it heals them really well! Just make sure it's a clear layer you apply, if it looks white despite rubbing in then it's too thick a layer you're using. Hope it all goes well OP!

fleeceoffluff · 15/02/2025 01:55

Just realised this isn't a brand new thread and you likely have the tattoo by now. Apologies Grin

ToadRage · 19/04/2026 21:14

I was reccomended Bepanthen for my first tattoo. My others I just bought the ones they sold in the parlour purpose designed for tattoos.

loobylou10 · 19/04/2026 21:16

Bepanthan
