Mum tattoo

Got an appointment booked in a fortnight. I want to get a tattoo for my mum, I lost her nearly 4 years ago very young and it's just something I want to do. Would it be really naff to just get 'mum' somewhere?

I have both my parents writing on my arm & it's facing me despite the tattooist saying it'll look odd because no one will be able to read it.

It's so I can read it as it's my message to me from my parents!

Maybe you could do something like this to honour your mum?

This is just lovely x

Good luck with your tattoo, OP. I have a few and have always toyed with the idea of getting something for my mam, but have never been able to settle on what. She was planning a butterfly one when she died, so maybe that...

IMHO you would likely wish you had done a different tattoo than just "Mum". I have a tattoo I dislike and it is quiet depressing seeing it everyday reminding you of the misjudgement you made. Seriously consider something from a theme she liked, such as a flower, or animal, or place perhaps. That will likely age better than some tombstone lettering.

Sorry, tombstone was a poor choice of phrase.

No not at all, I'm a tattooist and I find it remarkable all the ways people come up with to express a simple (but meaningful and important concept/idea). There are some beautiful modern, classic "mum" tattoos, with roses and hearts, that will never go out of style.
