What should I do with this?

I took my nose ring out because it wouldn't heal and had a bump, even two years after getting it pierced. Now I am left with a blood blister with a thin scab on top. How do I get rid of it? I don't think it's infected there no puss, it doesn't hurt or look sore around the red bit.

It sounds like keloid scarring.

I don't think you can get rid of it on your own, my friend had a local anaesthetic to have it removed at a clinic.

I had mine burnt off, GP referred me to some sort of clinic but it was quite a few years ago.

Now I just have a tiny scar that's barely visible.

It’s very unlikely to be a keloid and much more likely to be an irritation bump. Give it some time to heal by itself.

Ah I'm really hoping it is an irritation bump. Sometimes it sheds but then comes back again. Its filled with fluid. I thought taking the ring out would calm it down but it's made no difference. It's only been 5 days since I took it out though. Before I took it out I was giving it a warm compress daily.

I had similar with a tragus piercing. Was stuck in a bizarre three week cycle where a bump would form, burst, then refill. Gross! I tried everything, but decided to give up because it didn’t look good (and that’s the point of a piercing, right?).

If you can get to a proper piercing studio the staff will be able to tell you more I would have thought. Our local piercer is super knowledgeable and often posts about different types of bumps/scars

The only advice Ive ever been given at a piercing studio is not not mess with it, soak in salt water or hot compress
