Tattoo aftercare help!

I got a tattoo on my ankle yesterday. The tattooist said to air it as much as possible so I've been barefoot at home. But I had to go out this morning. When I came home my sock had stuck to it! I gently peeled it off. I've washed and Creamed it, but it's a bit stingy.

How can I leave the house?! Should I cling film it first? I'm so worried I've damaged it.

I have a tattoos on my feet and don't remember having a problem. How long did you have socks on for? I would put something between your foot and the sock to avoid fluff like a tube thing but they are expensive now.

My tattoo on my thigh was covered with cling film for 5 days I think - changed 3 times a day, but dear god it healed beautifully with not a piece needing a touch up. I think the advice varies so heavily between artists that it's hard to know what's actually best practice these days! Even the creams that are recommended vary wildly between Bepanthen (often dismissed as the work of the devil) and A.N.Other moisturising cream you happen to have in a drawer.

What aftercare were you recommended?

My only concern about cling filming it tonight would be the risk that it's still got bits on it and you're closing them into the tattoo but if you think it's nice and clean then yes I'd cling film it again and speak to the studio in the morning for reassurance if you can.

I was advised to use something like bapanthen on mine and it healed fine. (I had a tattoo on my foot as well as my wrist at that point, and had another later on the inside of my forearm - they've all healed fine and I never had an issue with clothing sticking to them.
