Just had my first tattoo (and on my ribs no less)

I've been putting it off for ages and spent hours googling how painful a rib tattoo would be, worrying if I should have chosen somewhere else for my first one. The tattooist assured me that it would be nowhere near as bad as I was imagining and a doddle compared to childbirth.

Honestly? It didn't even hurt. Slightly scratchy but not even a 2 on the pain scale. I thought I'd share as I spent so much time worrying and reading horror stories of unbearable pain but it was absolutely fine.

Agreed! I was surprised at how non painful tattoos are. I have one on my chest between my boobs and even that wasn't painful.

Ooooh can we have a picture? I'd love a tattoo down the side of my ribs but I'm scared of the pain!

I've got one on my ribs, and one on the boniest part of my foot, and they were fine too. I'm always planning my next one!

This is it immediately after finishing so slightly swollen and oozy and needs time to settle. I know the words might seem corny/naff but they have an extremely personal meaning (ten points if you know the song and the reason for the embroidery design, it's slightly niche).

@MobLife I promise it did not hurt. Slightly stingy when she went over bits more than once but it was hardly noticeable.

Had my first tattoo a year ago on the inside of my wrist - very sentimental piece and the tattooist was so kind. Was no where near as bad as I expected! Once I'm done breastfeeding I'll be getting another 😂

Do you mean "Life is for living" (ie to the full), or "Life is for people who are alive"? (As in the song by Passenger).

I plan for my next tattoos to be realistic but there's a good reason for the embroidery design and I like the effect very much.

Love the tat. Pretty! I'd say my thigh has been the worst so far, it took 2.5/3 hours but 2 mins in i was like oh no this will be a bad one!

Have always thought rib tats are really bad though so that's reassuring!

People always say the thigh is an easier place to do but my (heavily tattooed) tattoo artist found her thigh very uncomfortable apparently.

I was genuinely shocked that it didn't hurt.
