Hand tattoo

I would like a tattoo on my left hand, in the same place as Cheryl Cole’s hand tattoo, any ideas? It won’t affect my job or anything.

Thanks

Would a good tattooist give me a small loveheart tattoo on my finger?

Probably not: "...when you next see someone with a hand tattoo then stand about 10 feet away from them and see if you can see what it is, I bet you won’t be able too”. Those tattoos tend to look like a pen has leaked on you/you've got a smudge of something on your finger unless you're up really rather close.

no reputable tattoo artist will tattoo hands or necks

Where on Earth did you hear that?? Of course reputable artists tattoo hands and necks!

But yes, they will be more choosy about it, OP. Because many people are so judgmental about hand/neck/face tattoos, good artists do not want to do them on people unless they already have a lot of work done (sleeves, etc.) because then the person is more likely to be aware of and prepared for potential reactions.

If you look for an artist "with no scruples" about doing a hand tattoo, then they will likely have no scruples about good quality, good hygiene, etc. either. Which isn't really a good thing, is it?

That said, I think you will easily be able find a competent artist who would be willing to do a small hand tattoo if you explain your circumstances to them. Hand tattoos ARE becoming more common nowadays and if you're middle-aged with an established career where it will make no difference, it's probably fine, whether you're already covered or not.

The best artists probably would refuse, but it doesn't sound like you care about finding the best artist anyway, tbh.

Well I heard from a reputable tattooist himself that he wouldn’t ‘ruin someone’s life by tattooing hands, face or neck’, a tad dramatic but then it’s his choice.

I have already stated that I’m not not going to get a hand tattoo and when I said that I would choose a tattooist without scruples then I was being sarcastic, hence the Grin face, my humour is sarcastic but then it’s sometimes difficult to show this through a site.

Jumping in to say that I just got a black star on my middle finger last week, looks fab and I'm planning on more, but it's not likely any tattoo artist will even get set up for such a tiny tatt. I'd recommend booking in for something more substantial then they can do the finger at the end 👍

Inappropriatefemale · 22/08/2019 16:28

I’m just not sure that I want another tattoo anywhere but my finger, I quite like other people tattoos on their arms and legs but I wouldn’t want that as I may come to regret getting those areas done.

I quite like the idea of a tattoo on my thigh, and if I got that then I could get the finger at the end, I think finger tattoos look really quite funky with lots of knuckle rings and I have many of those.

I’m away to research some thigh tattoos now.

I keep looking at my star and smiling 😊 I've got lots of plans for future ink, including a beautiful thigh piece, but need to save many pennies 😄 recently got back into getting tattooed after a break of about 3 years and totally forgot how addictive it is!

I remember getting my first tattoo and then I got my second one a week later.

They have some beautiful ideas on Pinterest, I’ll have to save too as the sheer size of them makes them quite costly.

That will take forever, so much detail! It is beautiful though.

Troodon · 22/08/2019 16:39

I know, he may need to leave out some of the detail but it's stunning and worth the many many hours I reckon 👍

I have 2 full sleeves and wouldn't get hand tattoos.

They always look dirty IMO.

The whole post said

"they are likely to be shitty because no reputable tattoo artist will tattoo hands or necks. They are called jobstoppers for a reason. And i know now you are self employed but that could change.

I have some cherries in my handand he wasnt going to do it.But im 46 and have a fair few tattoos. So he did them."

I have 1 and 3/4 sleeves and wouldn't get two full sleeves.

They always look gross IMO.

😂

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 22/08/2019 19:02

I love a good tattoo. I'm really pleased you heard from a reputable tattoo artist that it's not a good idea. Very few people can get through life with such a visible tattoo without it negatively impacting something. I have 2 half sleeves and at a previous job had to have them covered even in the middle of summer, I was roasting.
