He was only 46

OP posts:
TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 27/03/2019 10:31

Lovely guy.

I remember all him really wanting was to provide for his family.

BarbieJellyBabyBrain · 27/03/2019 10:32

Oh for goodness sake, some people.

I have no idea who this person is either, but I saw this had been posted in the 'Tattoos' section so I engaged my brain and presumed he was a tattoo artist who was probably well known and loved within the tattoo community.

Sheesh!

purplelass · 27/03/2019 10:34

Oh that's sad, he was lovely in Miami Ink. RIP

Hearhere · 27/03/2019 10:40

That's weird about Lyle Tuttle isn't it!

amusedbush · 27/03/2019 10:44

Aww I remember him from Miami Ink too, he was lovely. What a shame.

speakout · 27/03/2019 10:45

Sad when anyone dies- but I have never heard of him.

SlothMama · 27/03/2019 10:55

Pretty sad that this thread is the first thing that comes up when you google Yoji Harada death. Particularly with the nob head comments early in the thread.

AnneOfCleanTables · 27/03/2019 11:02

The thread is in trending so I think that's why it attracted the initial comments. Posters didn't notice the niche it was in.

I don't know who he is but it's always sad to hear of someone dying. Flowers

AliceAforethought · 27/03/2019 11:02

How anyone with an ounce of sense would see this in the “tattoos” topic then complain that they don’t know who he is... Hmm Confused

RIP Mr Harada, your work will live on in (and on) many people.

BatFace1 · 27/03/2019 11:05

@CuriousaboutSamphire are you going to pop back and apologise for your stupid comments?

thedisorganisedmum · 27/03/2019 11:17

It doesnt say what he died from.

now who is being disrespectful?
It's very possible to acknowledge sad news without entering into a gossip competition and the unpleasant need to know and share all the gory details.

That's the problem with these threads, there are only designed to get more info.

Xenia · 27/03/2019 11:30

Never heard of him until this thread but that doesn't mean it isn't sad. I like to learn about new people all the time.

i certainly didn't know MN even had a tattoos topic and did not notice that so obviously don't have an ounce of sense!
However i like to expand my general knowledge so it's all to the good if any of us are informed about people we don't know.

Ellenborough · 27/03/2019 11:30

Yojiro "Yoji" Harada was a Japanese tattoo artist and musician who gained fame from his appearances in the TLC reality show Miami Ink.

Wow, and there was me feeling like a buffoon for never having heard of him and wondering if he was a Nobel Peace Prize winner or something. Hmm

It's a shame when anyone has to die that young and by the sounds of things, someone with a passion and a real talent. So RIP Yoji.

But really - 99% of people opening this thread will be going 'Who?'

Kintan · 27/03/2019 11:34

Ah that’s sad, I remember him from Miami Ink. Where did you hear about this OP, when I google him, this thread seems to be the only thing mentioning his death?

ooItsAoBeautifulDayNow · 27/03/2019 11:34

I cannot imagine hearing anyone has died and asking why I should care.

Why would you take the time to do that?! It's not like OP stopped you in the street and forced you to listen to her / him.

I haven't heard of the guy from Miami ink either but cannot fathom why anyone would reply with such a nasty comment.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 27/03/2019 11:35

FFS. There are some wankers on here! If you don’t know him, fine! But you don’t have to come on and make dickhead comments.

THIS ^

Disrespectful both to the OP and to the deceased - very unnecessary to be so unkind.

Kintan · 27/03/2019 11:35

Ellenborough hopefully then the 99% of people will then see that this thread is in ‘tattoos’ and keep their pointless posts saying they’d never heard of him to themselves! Not aimed at you btw, but some of the other comments!

NunoGoncalves · 27/03/2019 11:43

But really - 99% of people opening this thread will be going 'Who?'

It's in the tattoo subforum tbf.

And even if you are one of the 99% who open a thread about someone having died and you don't know who they are, your response should never be "Am I supposed to care?"

NunoGoncalves · 27/03/2019 11:49

I watcehd the show every now and then many years ago. One was about his new baby, so he has young kids. Poor family.

Ellenborough · 27/03/2019 12:07

It's in the tattoo subforum tbf.

Of course it is. I see that now. I am an idiot. I apologise unreservedly.

I saw it in the Trending box and just assumed it was in Chat as so few of the niche boards get much activity.

I feel stupid. Now. Sorry OP.

Ellenborough · 27/03/2019 12:09

But my response was not 'Am I supposed to care?'

I was just making the point that for someone unknown to all but a handful of people who follow his work, a more descriptive title would have been a good idea. Now I see that the post was in the Tattoo forum I retract that.

BettyDuMonde · 27/03/2019 12:11

Lyle Tuttle died today too. A true tattooing legend.

NunoGoncalves · 27/03/2019 12:13

But my response was not 'Am I supposed to care?'

I know. I didn't mean you specifically, just the numerous people upthread who said things along those line. 👍

ShadowHuntress · 27/03/2019 12:14

Oh no. I remember him as an apprentice. Way too young. Very sad indeed

RomanyQueen1 · 27/03/2019 12:14

I don't know him either, but RIP dear chap.
So sad when anyone dies who people can relate to.
