Text only tattoos

I have considered getting a text only tattoo for a while. 10 words in a specific font style. Do tattooists hate being asked to do this sort of thing because it's not very creative?

My tattooist would be happy to do it. Although I have limited text only tattoos

DrRanjsRightEyebrow · 22/01/2018 16:13

I want one of these but I really want fine line/ half needle style (look at Witty Button on Instagram) and I'm struggling to find an artist near me that does this style!

pullingmyhairout1 · 22/01/2018 16:18

If either of you are near Southampton or Peterborough I can recommend

Grohlidays · 22/01/2018 18:48

Thanks, sadly not near south coast.

My artist would do this quite happily. He's of the opinion that the customer gets what the customer asks for (within reason of course!) and is willing to pay for.

DrRanjsRightEyebrow · 23/01/2018 18:01

@pullingmyhairout1 is that someone with experience in fine line script work? Finding it hard to find someone with a decent portfolio of this style! Would travel for someone that does. Just not to South Korea for Witty Button!

DrRanjsRightEyebrow · 23/01/2018 18:03

This kind of style - no bolder...

Yes. Laughing Zombie Tattoos in Southampton. They're on Facebook

DrRanjsRightEyebrow · 23/01/2018 18:37

Thanks. Had a look and some lovely stuff but none of them seem to specialise in that style (can't see any fine line work or half needle stuff. Just a few script ones but quite bold work, which I'm trying to avoid)

DrRanjsRightEyebrow · 23/01/2018 18:42

Oooh, actually have come across someone in London that seems to have the style... (see how the ink isn't given the same weight along the line, like the top of the first T. More calligraphic) I'm so picky!

If you message Lee and tell him exactly what you want am sure he'll help or point you in the right direction.

FindoGask · 24/01/2018 10:50

It depends on the tattooist. Some don't like to do much script because it's not something they specialise in. Others do amazing script and it's pretty much all they do. Still others will happily do whatever you ask for. If you say roughly where you are I can recommend some people?

MarsBarsAreShrinking · 24/01/2018 11:50

The only thing that would concern me about that style of script is how well will it age? Will it blur and just look like a faint splodge in 5-10 years?

DrRanjsRightEyebrow · 24/01/2018 11:59

@MarsBarsAreShrinking it will blur out a little, which is why I want such fine line in the first place. Chunkier text, when blurred with age, just becomes hard to read and solid looking. It shouldn't fade, unless it's done on fingers, sides of feet etc. (Mine will be under a boob, when DS weans, to mark a milestone) But I do want an artist who specifically specialises in fine line and script work to give it the best chance.

Grohlidays · 24/01/2018 17:12

Oxfordshire. Those fine lines are interesting.

Best of luck tracking down an artist; hope you manage to find someone Smile

MummySparkle · 24/01/2018 20:08

Just thought I'd share my text-only tattoo. It's based on my handwriting. It's 7 years old now and only has the slightest amount of fading. I got it done in London, I can't remember the name of the place though

Where in the south coast are you OP? I can recommend someone in Totnes?
