More health risks for surrogate?

Is it the case in surrogacy when the baby is totally unrelated to the surrogate that the risks to the mother are much higher due to this ? As if it’s a pregnancy with the woman’s own eggs her body recognises that so a pregnancy where the embryo is totally unrelated is riskier or am I wrong?

A close friend is thinking of being a surrogate and said the risks are the same as if she was pregnant herself with her own egg but surely there’s some kind of immune process ? I’m worried about her and just wondering am I completely wrong to tell her it results in a more risky pregnancy?

Don't quote me but I think you are right. My SIL used a donor egg and had horrific pre-eclampsia and no end of issues and I've heard that it is an issue.
