my rabbit STINKS

Especially in the last month he just stinks, its seriously VILE. Even after I have just cleaned him out then an hour later the smell is back.

Its sometimes a really strong smell, then it fades a bit - does this sound like spraying?

Is it worth getting him neutered? I dont want to pay all that money for no reason. He had an operation on his teeth before and it took him a wee while to recover, poor wee thing, but he was ok.

Feel guilty putting him through an operation purely on the reason of smell...but hes just a nightmare to be around just now.

Anyone had any experience of neutered males? Is it worth it?

Is it him or his cage that smells?

What are you using to clean the cage with?

For my cages I use a special antibac spray (one for indoor/plastic diff for ourdoor/wooden) which kills off niffs.

I only have does so know nothing about spraying.

Are his under his tail parts clean?

We neutered our rabbit and it made a big difference to the spraying. Sometimes he smells 'cos he has an upset tummy! He pinches food from the table when no-one's looking and his poo reeks. Seriously bad! Check he's not snacking on tit bits.

I don't think the smell of "spray" is that offensive, tbh.

Does he have infection somewhere? Maggots near his tail? (v common in hot weather), are his teeth OK at the moment?

Actually maybe it's what cornsilk says, haven't encountered the waste products of thieving bunnies before!

when you say "rabbit" .... rabbits shouldn't be kept alone. you should get him neutered and adopt a female to keep him company (2 males would probably fight)
