I am fostering 2 very pretty chinchillas which came with a very fancy set up and all the gear. They seem very quiet. Do they take time to adjust? I have put them in the dining room where it’s quiet and the dog can’t annoy them. They are eating and pooping just very quiet. One especially. Is this normal?

Wait till they get zoomies! They'll liven up. They are little escape artists. But yes, they are pretty quiet.

Expect A LOT of poop. Hoovering around the cage several times a day amount.

Ha ha yes do they throw the poop 😂😂😂

Not on purpose, but it does seem to get flicked around with all the jumping/scurrying (from what I remember, it's been nearly 10 years).

Hope you get on better than I did! 😂 I looked after 2 for a week for a good friend, they turned up with a new cage which they ESCAPED from and I caught one running round my bedroom at 4am while thinking I was being burgled. I was happy to give them back…! 🤣

I can’t suggest anything without seeing a picture first to assess them.

I am in Australia and we can not have Chinchillas here. I grew up in the UK and had always wanted one but we moved before we got one sadly. I hope you all enjoy the Fairy Squirrels, that is a perfect name.

Well this is an adventure. Dd2 friend came over to meet the fairy squirrels and they came to life. They have been zooming around loose but they just hop back in the cage they are so easy!
They run around and play then they pop back on their perch for a time out. Do they need processing time? Also they are a bit fixated with dd2 and they more shy one defaults back to her constantly it’s very sweet.
I think they have decided they like us now!
