She's 4 and she's got an inoperable tumour ☹️

She's one of a bonded pair, with another girl, also 4.

We're hoping to rehome another piggy of similar age from a rescue and hope they will eventually bond but the local rescue is closed til 1st October. Will remaining piggy be ok for a couple of weeks til we can find her a friend?

We've moved them into the living room where we can chat to them (which they love) and giving lots of cuddles. Is there anything else we can do while surviving piggy is alone?

We had 2 piggies but one died last November and I read that they normally go downhill after losing their mate but the opposite seems to be true in our case lol he is bloody loving life and seems happier than when his brother was here. He gets lots of attention and just loves being talked at lol he was a bit quiet for the first few days and mainly just stayed in his bed snuggled up to a blanket that I had rubbed all over his brother just so he could still smell him. I cried my eyes out when he died and I just kept thinking about how the other Guinea pig will be wondering where his brother is and it really hurt my heart. I didn't even think I cared that much about the little fellas but I obviously do lol

Why not try another rescue that's open? I went miles to the Blue Cross to get my gorgeous neutered male, when my 2 girls lost their sister. He is so fabulous and it was well worth it. I wouldn't delay.

Honestly, having done this a number of times, PLEASE don't wait.

Your remaining piggy won't care which rescue you use. Only you will know.

I unexpectedly lost my youngest piggy last month. I had to wait 5 days for a replacement friend. His brother REALLY struggled by day 4.

I'm terribly sorry for your loss. But, kindly, please don't be selfish.

Thanks for the responses. If two weeks is too long find a different rescue to, hopefully, meet another piggy this weekend. I've left messages with several rescues/charities so fingers crossed!

Very sad to say goodbye to our little Simone later today 😢

So sorry for your loss. It's clear little Simone was loved a lot. Good luck with whatever you decide to do next
