Preparing to say goodbye

Bunny lost his wife of ten years a few months ago and he's gone very downhill with dermatitis and now displaying e.c symptoms. His head is moving constantly to the left and he can't control it. He's also blind. He's sill pottering about and eating but I know this is is as the head movements are getting worse not better. He smells horrible too which is highly unusual for buns.

He's got an appointment booked in for Wednesday and I think that'll be it.

My heart 😞 I already miss her so much, I can't bear losing him too.

I am sorry for not just what your Bunny is going through, but what you are going through too. It's always distressing to lose a pet, particularly so when it's the bonded partner of the remaining pet. Rabbits are so social, just like us, so the impact of the loss is real all round. On top of which your remaining Bunny is clearly unwell.

How did the vets appointment go? Or was it time to say goodbye? I am sorry and whatever the outcome I do hope you are ok 🌷

I'm sorry to hear this. Poor poor buns. As hard as it is I'd PTS (if there's no cure) let him go off to his wife & not be in distress/pain.

you have to be the decent human here, as hard as that is. and I do know how hard it is rabbit/Guinea Pigs & the heart break over a hamster!!

Give Buns lots of hugs (if it doesn't hurt him) & treats & let him bounce off to Mrs Buns.

His appointment is Wednesday. I keep oscillating between "he seems better" and "he needs to be PTS now".

Trouble is, he's at least 11, and the e.c won't get better.... So I'm thinking there's a logic to letting him go now, before he's in horrible agony or has lost the use of his legs. I don't want to wait til he's in pain but I feel like a murderer 😭

I'm going to take him in today instead. He can only go in circles this morning. Thanks for your support xx

I know this is late as Wednesday has been and gone but you aren't murdering him at all you are offering him a "Good Death" which is what Euthanasia translates to from Greek .

11 is a fantastic ages , focus on the life you gave him (and his housemate )

They hide their illnesses . Your job is to "read" them which you did .
