Anyone know what these are? Found 6 of them in my back garden. Seam friendly and like cheese!

I seen 6 of these all snuggled together in my back garden. Very small as I approached they didn’t budge, I went and got some cheese and they shared it. I handed it to them and they took it from my hand with their hand. I think they are super cute what ever they are anyways! But I’m pregnant and my hormones are a mess so I’m guessing I should stay well away. Are they just mice? Baby rats? Voles?

They look like rats to me, but I'm no expert. If they're still about, they'll be vulnerable. Can you pop them in a box and take them to a wildlife rescue?

hagathachristie · 15/09/2022 16:06

Oh actually now I zoomed in I think wood mice . They don't go into houses . Just leave them be ! I've rescued loads when I had cats ! They don't t bite . They live under sheds / in garages etc .

Defo NOT rats . I'm a rat fanatic, have them as pets .

Aw I didn't read the list about no mummy mouse ....

If they stay there and mummy doesn't come back yes - wildlife sanctuary.

What's the difference between wood mice and house mice? Aren't they all vermin? 😬

Two different species, with different behaviour, ecology etc. Wood Mice less likely to set up home inside buildings.

Ah, I see. Thanks. I'm still traumatised from having a house invasion over ten years ago 😬

Mice. The good news, if you like them. Is that they’ll be sexually mature in a couple of weeks and you’ll soon have two dozen more to enjoy.

Hmm

I have had pet rats and they don't look like those, but they look like baby wild rats to me. Call a local wildlife place and say you have baby rodents that need help
