I rescued two lovely sows a couple of years ago. One died at the beginning of the week and our remaining little girl is not wheeking as much. She seems lonely and is mourning.

We're getting her some new friends and will be introducing them slowly. I'm so excited. We're getting 3 young ones but I so far only have a picture of one as the other two were running around so fast Grin. I just wanted to show someone our gorgeous new piggy. Picking them up tomorrow so will add more photos.

Gorgeous bundle of fluff!

FantasticFebruary · 19/02/2022 13:10

Georgia's. Very very similar to mine as a child. Would love some now, but currently not practical

weegiemum · 19/02/2022 13:48

Oooh lovely. What are their names, have you chosen yet?

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 19/02/2022 13:51

Dd6 wants to call that one Fluffy or Cutiepie. I'm trying to change her mind Grin

The other two will be Mikasa and Sasha Smile

They'll be so different to your older girl , little razor claws and hyperspeedy .
Love tricolours and I have a love of an Abby (my very first piggie was a tri-Abby boar )
The one in shot has a I'm not going to be Cutiepie . matey look about her .

Beautiful! I loved having guinea pigs as a child. Mikasa has beautiful eyes. Glad they have bonded so quickly

watchtheglitterdustswirl · 20/02/2022 12:03

Oh they are soooo cute! I really want some Guinea Pigs, but my children are just a bit too young for me to take them on at the moment (I'd not have pets when I don't have adequate time to look after them well).

Quick question for you pig experts if you don't mind as I've not had them since I was a child. It is right that you can't keep them solo, and also do they need as much time, space and energy as rabbits do?

Trinacham · 20/02/2022 12:03

Beautiful. I love Abyssinians!

DazzlePaintedBattlePants · 20/02/2022 12:06

😍 Our grey and white pig is almost identical to Mikasa! Lucky you, they’re fab. I’ve been banned from having more pigs :(

Glad the bonding went well.

They are very sociable animals so it wouldn't be kind to keep solo. They do need tonnes of space.. especially to 'popcorn' in! I'm not experienced with rabbits so not sure how they compare exactly though.
BellaTheDarkOverlord · 20/02/2022 12:10

Thanks all. They are so cute.

When our old girl died we wanted to see how Eli was going solo. I'd read different things about whether to keep them solo or not. They're definitely sociable. Eli has taken to these babies so quick and they've been cuddling up to her. She probably feels like chief of piggies now Grin

They are gorgeous and all so different . Love the multi-coloue ears , and hopefully you'll have some pink claws in the mix - much easier to cut

I have to admire how clean their floor is .but we all know in 24 hours it;ll be carnage Grin
Good that they're out exploring and eating .

Our GP1 was similar when his brother died , we got him a tiny piglet boar . He was so delighted but exhausted as the new boy was all over his new big cage and new stepdad . GP1 climbed onto a folded towel bed and pretended to go to sleep . Grin

Give them little amounts of new food often, you don;t know what theyve had previously so don't overload

Though parsley, dandelions and fresh cut grass = Instant Friendship for a guinea pig .
You'll find ypurself in the supermarket muttering Sasha doesn't like flat leaf , only curly parsley and Mikasa won't eat celery

When they're in season a leafy sweetcorn is delicious .

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 20/02/2022 17:20

Thanks for the advice. That'll definitely be me in the supermarket! I've given them parsley and they are cuddling up to stepmum Eli now. Never thought of sweetcorn Smile
