Hi,
We have had our Syrian for just a couple of weeks. He's only 10 weeks old or thereabouts. Ever since we heve had him, his urine (?) has been really stinky. I mean so bad you heave..sorry tmi!
I have Googled it and it may either be an infection or he's just scenting his territory. He does it in his ball quite alot. He doesn't seem stressed or poorly. His eyes are bright and healthy and he eats muesli and fruit and drinks enough .
Anyone got any ideas what this might be please? I'm new to the world of hamsters!
Thanks x

Vet. It’s easy to forget small animals like hamsters are prey animals so if there is anything wrong with them they will hide it so they don’t appear vulnerable to predators. If there is something up little things like this are good indicators, could easily be an infection or something similar x

Thank you for replying. He has also developed a hard lump behind his front leg. He doesn't seem to be in any pain. We have only had him 2 weeks.

Oh no OP that doesn’t sound good definitely get a vet to check him out, unfortunately for us they are great at hiding that they are in pain so it’s always difficult to tell if there’s actually anything wrong! X
