Gerbils and mystery blood HELP!!

Mia7855 · 15/12/2019 15:04

I spent the night away last night and when I got back and went to feed my 3 male gerbils there was splatters of blood all up the side of their cage! This has never happened before and I've never seen them fight so I'm not sure if they had a fight or maybe something medical? I've had a look at all 3 and none of them look injured or have any blodd on them so I am very confused.
Anyone have any ideas what might have happened or any advise??
Thanks!

My friend had 3. We went shopping and came back to 3 dead bodies and a LOT of blood.
Very grim.
All males.
Maybe they don't fair well together after a certain age?

It's possible your gerbils are falling out, or more likely one of the trio is bullying another. This is very common with trios of gerbils, they always do better in pairs.

Have a look at the links below. They explain more about "declanning" (when gerbils fall out) and what the signs are. If you see any of these signs you may need to separate them, but first you will need to identify who the bully is and who the victim is.
