Mites?

Mrs pig has what looks like black dandruff on white fur. Mainly around the bum area. No obvious scratching, no hair loss, no skin sores. Totally well otherwise.

Do you think it could be mites?

My GP5 had some weird little insects on her fur (one of my other pigs had a couple but GP5 was a Himmy smooth so more visible)

I used a 'back of the neck' treatment (Xeno 450) regularly which contains Ivermectin so I wasn't convinced it was mites , more like tiny little thin 'lines'.

We washed them all in Lice'n'Easy shampoo and it solved it . (It co-incided with two bags of hay from that Petshop but I had no proof and I didn't have the wrappings . I used to decant it into a lockable bin in the garage , bought for their hay )

My GP5 had ivory fur and pink skin ( except her points) so I knew it wasn't scurfy dandruff. Mrs Pig is tri-colour isn't she? Any scurfy skin from the darker areas?

I would start with a shampoo then use a drop treatment a few days later as a preventative , if it isn't mites then great . But if it is , get in there quick. They are grim for a piggie if they scratch themselves raw , they can have fits from them.
