Just got these 2 girls as surprise early Christmas presents for my Dd10 & 12yr old stepson. They have a 2 tier cage with a ramp.....can anyone who has a 2tier cage tell me how long it took your guinea pigs to get used to using it?

Ohhh

First of all: Welcome new piggie babies , take your seat in the SuperFurryAnimals (Small Pets) Hall of Fame.
Squuueeeeee

They'll need MN Nicknames (to preserve their identity) Grin

Are they sisters? Who's the bossy one?

Answer to the ramp question.... my GP1/GP2 had a wide, shallow carpeted ramp going to the top of the carpeted lid of their haybox . They never cottoned on to it. If we put them on the lid they'd potter down as fast as their little food seeking egs would take them (they were adults).
When we got tiny piglet GP3 , he wouldn;t use the ramp except to hide under it. We took it out after that.

Some pigs, especially young agile ones will grasp using a ramp quite quickly . But it needs to have grip and not be too narrow or steep. They aren;t really agile animals.

They'll be nervous in the early days so might not even want to poke their faces out of the sleeping area.

Food, Patience,Food, Routine and yes Food is the way to win them round.

Ooo aren’t they beautiful?!

My piggies took about an hour to work out the ramp and now rampage up and down it every 5 minutes. The were about 5 months old though, yours look small still so it probably seems a bit daunting still. Mine has high sides which makes it a lot less scary for them.

I actually had to lift one of my boys inch by inch up it the first time to prove to him his arse DID fit. He has big bum issues. 😂. It’s all hair so he thinks he’s fatter than he is!

My girls had an L shaped wooden play tunnel with a ramp so that they could sit on top. They never got the hang of it. Used to have 2 Guineas in the L bum to bum looking out at the world and the 3rd sitting under the ramp.

Said ramp eventually fell off and we never hammered it back as we went down to 2 Guineas and it was easier to carry back and forth to the garden without the ramp. Now only have one piggie left.

They are 9 weeks, all nearing 10 weeks now. We have moved the ramp out & have them just in the bottom cage for now. I'm going to get Hessian to stick to the ramp & make some sides for it, then reintroduce them to it.
Thank you for your replies.
