AIBU to ask what are your guinea pigs doing right now?

Both my girls are pancaking in their cage. Not sleeping, but eyes not quite open (slits) and just lying flat. What are your guinea pigs doing?

One is drinking water, one is eating hay.

HeAteAFatball · 01/10/2018 04:26

aaaaw. Every so often, one of mine goes to the bottle and drinks and I can hear the clink clink clink and see bubbles. Other piggie not a big drinker but she loves hay so much she does a popcorn when I give it to them.

Mine have just started at me with indifference. Went over for a wee chat and they were lying down (one in hay tray, one next to it) and both raised their heads and just stared at me as I chatted.

I think they can see into my soul. 😱

Or they know it’s nearly dinner time but noticed I had no bowls so were looking at me with hate. 😭

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/10/2018 20:24

One of my late pigs was a ruby eyed Himmy - when you look into their eyes they're like red glass (the other pigs have darkest navy or black, GP3 had dark red)

She always looked like she was searing the lining off your skull by pure telekenisis Shock

Mine are still out in their Pighouse but I'm planning to bring them inside this week, got the girls cage ready , just need to get GP6 cage sorted.

Then they'll lard about , eat , shriek at me for food .
All in a days work for them.

FernieB · 01/10/2018 21:57

My girl has wedged her igloo so one edge rests across her food bowl (half the bowl is in the igloo and half out). She's lying in the igloo next to the bowl looking proud of her work.

toffee1000 · 01/10/2018 22:13

I decided to go and take photos.
My two are just chilling at the moment.

Mine are lazy. They are either sleeping or eating. If I put them outside in the run they hide under the pigloo the entire time and then when I put them back in their large indoor cage they go back to laying out on the floor and sleeping. They aren’t even old. They are grumpy little fellas.

FernieB · 02/10/2018 14:59

Toffee - they may be chilling but those photos prove they've been hard at work. Those igloos don't tip themselves over. Grin

toffee1000 · 02/10/2018 16:57

Oh yeah. We used to put them in the right way up, but they always tipped them over, so now we put them in sideways! They still move them around, particularly right in front of the food or the water bottles GrinGrin

toffee1000 · 02/10/2018 16:58

They love sitting in them and using them as toilets

Pandoraslastchance · 02/10/2018 17:00

Mine are both dozing on the sofa.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/10/2018 22:21

My rodenty ones are in tonight .
They are lazing about in a bed of shreddings , got hay cookies and fleece to slounge on.

(I was driven barmy bu hay last year so I thought I'd give fleece another go and I bought 10 in Ikea. Need to buy a washbag )

So far they've eaten supper, poohed everywhere and pootled about. The ladies have a criss-cross cardboard thing to make lots of little 'rooms'
I expect a 3am wake-up call Grin

PseudoBadger · 03/10/2018 12:55

They are out in the run. Not running. Just sitting.

EastMidsGPs · 03/10/2018 14:09

Outside. Sulking because they are not on their favourite bit of lawn.
Sadie complained long and loud about going out.
Nessa told me some long involved tale about something or other .. not sure what that was about!

Sun's out and it is warmish so they'll get another 20 minutes then in.

Crusoe · 03/10/2018 14:18

I’m missing ours. They belong to school really but we have started having them for holidays. They are the dearest little fellows and I miss them so much in term time. Roll on half term.
I packed my DS off this morning with some treats for them so I hope they are tucking in right now.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 05/10/2018 12:10

I've just looked at ours. After a brief frenzy when I moved GP6 cage next to the sows (GP7/GP8) - he was all "Brrrrr Hellooo Ding-Dong" like a Cavy Leslie Phillips .

They were all "When was this decided" ? and chattered through the bars.

Now theiy're all curled up like croissants, snoozing.

'Tis a tough life Wink

Buggerbrexit · 06/10/2018 00:58

Toffee they’re gorgeous!

Mine are ignoring the coriander I bought them —and wheeking for food—

EastMidsGPs · 06/10/2018 16:40

Sitting with DH on the sofa (well Sadie is cuddling into his neck) listening and watching the football scores on Sky. Nessa reacts every time Charlie Nicholas speaks, I think she likes his Scottish accent.

PigPogtastic · 06/10/2018 23:08

Mine were standing up to peer over the top of their cage in the hope I might bring them food. They are greedy buggers, and seem to recognise my foot steps as when I come in the living room they do their “food, food, food” routine.

After I gave them some more hay, the boar did his best sexy rumbling voice and bum wiggle in the hope it might impress his lady. She remains unimpressed by his attempts to woo him and went and tipped the plastic hidey over instead.

Buggerbrexit · 07/10/2018 00:21

Are anyone else’s guinea pigs really terrified by any Ed Sheeran music? Mine get really upset whenever “shape of you” plays Confused

OvO · 07/10/2018 04:13

One of mine gets scared if there’s plinky plonk piano music played, Bugger! I don’t know Ed Sheeran stuff but if there’s piano then mine'd definitely be upset. Dinosaur roar on the tv is fine, piano biiiiig no no, 😂

toffee1000 · 07/10/2018 16:44

My family aren’t fans of Ed Sheeran so we don’t play his music. They do get scared when I make a sudden movement/walk past the cage/look at them too long though...

OddBoots · 07/10/2018 16:48

They have been flumped out in their beds, we have just moved over to their winter 'slippers' so they are making the most of it. I will be opening the fridge in a minute though so all wheaking will break loose.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/10/2018 13:45

Our GP1 used to go into a weirdy stealthy purr mode when DD played "Animal Crossing" on her Ninendo DS.

GP5 moved her head left-right-left-right when there was a (very fake) bird chirping on Dr Who.

They haven't forwarded any opinion on Ed Sheeran but they're partial to some Justin Bieber.

At the moment they're lounging upstairs . We gave GP6 a box with ReadiGrass and a cardboard roof on top , he made a little tent out of the card and camped there Grin

FernieB · 12/10/2018 16:19

Can't say my lot are that interested in music but Madampig does listen to the Woman's Hour podcast with me every day and she gets quite excited and squeaks along to the music for Just A Minute. (Radio 4 house hereSmile).

Current Bun sleeps through most things except any TV programme involving murder - he loves thoseShock
