Problem with guinea pig's eye

One of my GPs looks like he has a sore eye. It looks a bit cloudy, smaller than the other eye and slightly red.

Anyone know what this might be and if I can treat at home? Or is a trip to the vet in order?

I've had to deal with the inevitable hay-poke injuries (daft little blighters run headlong into a pile of fresh hay )

Boiled and cooled salted water
Non fluffy gauze

Get them wrapped in a towel and wipe in one direction with fresh gauze each wipe. 99% of the time its a rogue hay piece but it can be a scratch .
The cloudy eye takes a day or so to clear.

We took GP3 to the vets but his eye was already improving within hours so didn't need anything .
